Conversations with God

Olivia got a new toy phone for Easter and yesterday it broke when the baby I babysit dropped it.  Liv keeps telling us she needs a new phone and tonight she was fascinated with the storm clouds so this is a conversation we had...

Nate- "Do you know what comes out of the clouds?"
Olivia- "Rain... and God"
Nate- "God will come out of the clouds one day"
Olivia turn to the window and says - "God!! Can you bring me a new phone please?"
Me - "Why do you want God to bring you a phone?"
Olivia - "God makes phones and I can talk to Him with a phone"
Me - "You don't have to have a phone to talk to God"
She turns to look out the window, turns back, smiles and whispers "God is talking in my ear"
Me- "What is He saying?"
Olivia- "He said he needs a car, so he can drive"
Nate- "But God can fly"
Olivia- (giggling) "No he can't cause he don't have wings"

I know this is really random but I wanted to write it down before I forgot it. I just love these little conversations we have with her.

Easter Bunny PB&J

Today Olivia had a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich (her new favorite) and when she got close to the end I looked across the table to see what looked like the Easter Bunny!  Do you see it? the ears, the nose, the feet and the tail? haha Maybe I'm crazy but when I pointed it out to her she was so excited!

Gender roles... according to a 3 year old

Olivia already has ideas about gender roles. I'm not sure where she has come up with these but almost daily she says something about that being for a boy or for a girl. Here are a few examples...

While watching PBS one day it showed kids playing soccer. I asked her if she was going to play soccer and her reply was "NO because I'm a GIRL"

Several weeks ago Nate bought a new lawn mower and he mentioned that in several years Olivia would be out there mowing and her reply was "I can't mow! I'm a girl!!"

Ben enjoys wearing Olivia's princess crowns and she makes sure he's aware that he is a boy and can't wear crowns!

While Ben was playing with a camo hat Nate told Liv to put it on and she replied (in a voice that sounded like she thought Nate was nuts) "Girls don't wear camo hats!"

She is a pretty funny kid I must admit. No idea where she comes up with these things :)

Weight Watchers...

7 weeks ago I started Weight Watchers... I love it! I've not been depriving myself of much.  In those 7 weeks I've been to Sandy's Pizza a few times, I've eating ice cream from Dairy Queen, I went to a Taco Bar Fiesta  for our Sunday School class and I had an incredible dessert at Red Robin... And as of today in 7 weeks I've lost 15.4 pounds! I'm surprised at how easy it has been.   At our trip to the zoo last week I noticed I wasn't dying climbing all the hills there like I normally do.  So not only do my clothes fit better but I feel so much better! I am really  making this a lifestyle change, not a diet! And so far so good!

Go Team!

When I was in the 4th grade I decided to try out Cheerleading... and I hated it.  In the 5th grade I told my mom I wanted to try out for basketball.  It was a fit! I loved it and I played all the way through grade school and high school.  I had high hopes that Olivia would want to follow in her mother's footsteps but I'm coming to realize that may not be the case....
Her Aunt Tracy and her Aunt Erin were both Cheerleaders so I'm a bit out numbered... I will support whatever decision she makes, and I must admit she would make a super cute little cheerleader!

Ben's addiction

Not sure if I've mentioned this before, but Ben is ADDICTED to his paci! He's even figured out how to use two at one time... my son is so talented!  I don't think we'll be getting rid of these things as easily as we did with Liv.

More zoo trips!

I love having a small little zoo close to our house! It's been so fun taking the kids. Each time they get excited about new things.  This trip we were able to feed a giraffe (thanks Marilyn for covering the cost of very expensive lettuce!).  At one point Ben had the giraffe's tounge wrapped completely around his hand.  He giggled the whole time. So cute!  The peacock below was our lunchtime friend.  He got a little to close for comfort a few times but he was beautiful!

Tangled... the second time around!

We splurged tonight and bought Olivia the movie Tangled... I'm sitting here in my bedroom with her, watching her giggle and watching her eyes light up when a song comes on that she knows. Right now all of those tough parenting times seem so silly.  I have a beautiful little girl that I love more than words could ever say.  It's moments like these that remind me of how amazing being a mom truly is!

Big Kids!

Lately Olivia thinks she is a bit to big to take a nap.  But... around 3:00 this happens :)

Ben's new favorite thing to do is climb on everything! The couch the chairs, even the table (which we are trying our best to prevent!). After breakfast this week before I even had a chance to clean up he was helping himself to the rest of Olivia's toast.  He really thought he was getting away with something!
